Cherry Blossom Viewing (Senkoji Temple & Park, Innoshima Park, Kosanji Temple)

Time : The end of March every year.
Enjoy the cherry blossoms at "Senkoji Temple & Park" that have been chosen as one of the "Top 100 Sites of Beautiful Cherry Blossoms". Cherry blossom viewing in the evening is held during the cherry blossom season with lit up paper lanterns that display haiku.

Onomichi Minato Festival

Time : The 4th Saturday and Sunday in April every year.
This is a festival to praise Hirayama Kakuzaemon who was a magistrate of the town and dedicated the opening of Onomichi Port. This festival is held to wish for the development of Onomichi. There are plenty of events such as the "Eejan Sansa Gari" contest, dancing, and other exciting events.

Sanou Festival

Time : The 3rd Saturday in May every year.
This festival is held at Yamawaki Shrine to welcome summer. On the day of the festival, many people wear a "yukata" or summer kimono for the first time of the year. A torch lit line is formed and rises to the top of Jyodoji Temple.
At the festival, you will find people enjoying drawings, old fashioned food stands and a karaoke contest. Why don't you wear a yukata and enjoy this festival!

Onomichi Takigino (Traditional plays put on outdoors with light supplied by bonfires.)

Time : In the middle of May every year.
This is an original Takigino play that is held at Jodoji Temple. Noh and Kyogen (traditional short comedic drama) are played at Amidado (Amitabha hall) which is designated as an important cultural asset. You can enjoy the graceful Noh dance in the light supplied by bonfires.
